Video Transcript: How to Get Started in Motocross
My name is Chris Kelley and I am going to give you a brief history of how I got to be where I am at here today. I started racing motocross actually a little later on in life. A lot of people start when they are younger kids. I did not start until later in my teens and later up when I started but I rode a lot at home. My uncle raced motocross and my family all rode motorcycles. If you are looking in getting into racing motocross the best thing to do would be go to your local motorcycle shop. Talk with them and they will be able to provide you with information on where the local tracks are, certain local professionals you can speak with and ways to get riding techniques. There are motor cross schools you can sign up for and every district usually has classes or some expert that you can get with or they also have riding days. Certain tracks have open practices you can go there not on a race day. You don’t have to feel the pressure of 40 guys in the gate with you. You can go out there at your own pace, feel the track, get use to the track and understand how it is. Another good website to look at would be go to AMA (American Motorcycle Association) website and they sanction all the national motor cross and road racing events across the country and they will be able to provide you with the local races around your area that are AMA and also around surrounding areas you might be interested in traveling to.
